The Cheese Bar presents
Barrels & Bites: An Evening of Whisky, Talks and Tastings
Friday October 4th- 6-9pm
Join Museum Windsor at the Chimczuk Museum for an exciting evening of whisky, talks, and tastings.
Featuring local whisky from J.P. Wiser’s distilled at the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery along with sweet and savoury bites locally sourced by The Cheese Bar.
Throughout the evening, you can entice your palate with multiple flavours while exploring the area’s rich history in whisky-making and secret illicit activities. Travel back to the 19th century and beyond as you learn about the beginning of our local industry and how our success later became the bee’s knees for dappers and flappers ready to risk it all to make an amber-coated fortune. Their secret endeavours live on still today, some still being uncovered in the depths of our very own Detroit River.
A ticket to this roaring evening includes:
– Admission to Museum Windsor’s galleries at the Chimczuk Museum including:
o Beyond the Barrel: Windsor’s Whisky History
o Windsor in Focus: local photography exhibit by award-winning local photographer Nick Brancaccio
o The River and the Land Sustain Us: The Chimczuk Museum’s permanent gallery of local history from prehistoric times into modern day
– Three drink tickets for your choice of Wiser’s whiskies along with an exclusive look behind-the-scenes by the master blender himself, Dr. Don Livermore
– In-depth tour of Beyond the Barrel: Windsor’s Whisky History by exhibit curator Nicole Chittle
– Under the Surface: A talk by local diver Matt Zuidema about his Prohibition finds in the Detroit River and experience in filming National Geographic’s series “Drain the Oceans”
– Prize basket raffle: your ticket secures you 3 ballots to enter for a chance to win one or more exclusive guest prizes and experiences for the evening
