Autumn Equinox Reflection and Intention Setting

Thursday, September 22nd 5-6pm

Let’s celebrate the Autumn Equinox through an intention setting, poetry, and reflection hour.

The Autumn Equinox is a time where we’re welcoming in the change in seasons and
begin to slow down, go inward, and tune into our inner voices. By kicking off the season with
this hour together, we can initiate the start of this slowing down, appreciate the season past,
“harvest” what we’ve learned in summer, and set new intentions as we move forward.
In this hour we will create a safe, inviting, and inspiring space for all levels of writers,
thinkers, creatives, and humans to reflect on the changing season. We will read some poems to
inspire the autumnal setting, talk about the history and meaning of the Autumn Equinox, share
ideas of how to invite warmth into our homes, and how to set intentions through writing and/or
poetry in order to propel ourselves into the cozy season ahead.

There will be time to share any thoughts, but only for anyone who is comfortable or
wanting to share. Any private intentions or thoughts will be respected. We will also be lighting a
soft incense called “meditate”made with Benzoin Resin, Dragons Blood Resin and White
Sandalwood. Bring a notebook, pen or pencil, and anything else that helps inspire you.
Alley will be guiding this intention setting class. She has a background in journalism,
creative nonfiction, has edited poetry chapbooks, magazines, and has hosted nature poetry
classes and workshops. She lives and homesteads on her farm in Kingsville where she grows
organic vegetables and raises animals.
